Above the Clouds

Location / Hong Kong International Airport

Designed by Airport Authority Hong Kong, and assisted by Tobe Concepts for construction, the winner of the Best Design Award in Canstruction Competition 2015, "Above the Clouds&" — a sculpture of the Big Buddha at Lantau Island in Hong Kong, was made of more than 10,000 cans of food. With 2.4 meters height and over 1,600 kilograms, it took about 12 hours to finish building. ‘Above the Cloud’ stood out from other 1,200 entries from all over the world, winning the glory for Hong Kong. The work recreated the scene of the Big Buddha coming out of the clouds, from the Buddha's head to shoulder, vividly revealed this famous tourist attraction.
